Limited Edition 13th Star Giclée Prints

You can see what the prints will look like here

You may know by now that the latest album by Fish is in my view (and others who have heard it) simply the greatest work he has ever done. The events surrounding the writing of 13th Star I'm sure will be known to you and it was during this year that the artwork evolved. It was while listening endlessly to the early mixes of this album that the ideas began to form for the main picture: Dark Star...I become totally immersed in this gothic world, full of dark imagery. The 13th Star picture itself was pretty much there early on, but with the angel changing from a pure white to a dark angel...more in keeping with the evolving mood of the album. Both designs can be seen here

The two specially designed personalised certificates of authenticity are shown below. These will be sent to each buyer along with the print.

13th Star is 16.5" (420 mm) square with a  3" (76 mm) border.
The Dark Star illustration is 24" x 12" (609 mm x 305 mm) with a  3" (76 mm) border.

I will now be able to do printed editions of any piece of work on this site as Giclée prints. These will be 16.5" square, or 14" x 20" depending on the image with a 3" border all the way round. They will be £100 each plus p&p (see below). Larger sizes are available on request, please e-mail me for price.

Limited Edition Giclée Prints
All the Marillion sleeves I painted are offered in a strictly limited edition of 150 per design. The gatefold album sleeves will be printed same size as the original album covers at 24" x 12" with a 3" border. 'Clutching At Straws' will have the front and back sleeves side by side on one print. The singles sleeves will be printed 42cm (16.5") square with a 3" border. The first 4 Marillion albums and 11 singles off them are offered in this set. These will be the only prints I shall be doing of the Marillion paintings, I have waited a long time for the opportunity to reproduce these works as fine art prints. At last I feel these Giclées do them justice, with the colours as rich as the day I painted them. The respect given to the fine art print process - from proofing through to the use of archival materials - makes each print a collector's item and a real investment.

Certificate of Authenticity for the Marillion and Judas Priest prints

A proper Certificate of Authenticity is an additional value added to a fine-art print insofar as it explains in detail the various factors which intervene in its production and edition. The more details the Certificate includes, the more value it contributes to the print.
Therefore in addition to the print a personalised, dated 'Certificate of Authenticity' will be provided which gives an authorised fine-art credential. By offering extensive information on the Certificate, about the painting and the edition, you will have a unique guarantee of the authenticity of the work.

About Giclée printing
"The Giclée printing (pronounced "ghee-clay") process was born in the early 1990's as rock musician Graham Nash & and his associate Mac Holbert uncovered a new capability of the Iris inkjet printer called the 3047. These early machines had been developed for digital graphic proofing but it had not occurred to the manufacturer that its equipment could be adopted by artists as a digital method of fine art printing. In 1991, thanks to Nash's vision, the world's first digital fine art atelier opened its doors."
Since this early beginning, the technology in equipment, media, inks and craftsmanship have advanced immeasurably. A gallery owner I know has recommended a fine art printer to me who does Giclée printing. The prints are produced on quality watercolor papers, much like an original painting. This gives each piece a similar look and feel to an original work of art. The mediums used are acid free, 255 gsm Somerset velvet enhanced mould made paper. Because no screens are used, the prints have a higher apparent resolution than lithographs. The dynamic colour range is like serigraphy. In the Giclée process, a fine stream of ink‹more than four million droplets per second‹is sprayed onto archival art paper. The effect is similar to an air brush technique, but much finer. The inks are pigment based, not dyes like an ordinary ink-jet printer uses. The six Giclée printing colors can produce up to 16 million colours. Image permanence is a concern to artists and collectors alike. The time span increases up to 200 years when using these special pigment inks as they are extremely fade-resistant.
